PURPOSE: To provide journalistic skills in preparing and using a variety of public relations materials for public relations programs. Responsible for preparation of articles, news releases and other informational materials concerning the technical, scientific, or other activities and programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Aids in planning and writing publications. Develops story ideas and collects information. Prepares news articles and feature stories for release to newspapers, wire services, television and radio stations in publicizing university activities and events of public or local interest. Arranges for necessary photographic work. Makes rounds of departments and offices for news and items of interest or announcement of situations requiring public attention. Performs related duties as required. Reports special departmental events, obtains material and accommodations for working press and acts as guide for media representatives.
