PURPOSE: To provide the technical skill and supervision directing the operation of a central printing shop and to coordinate printing requests from the various departments within the institution. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the operation of a central print shop.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Consults, coordinates, plans and schedules all activities involved in the operations of the printing department. Supervises the work of clerical and skilled operators in the accomplishment of varied printing tasks. Advises requesting departments as to available paper stock and appropriate colors, format, binding, etc., to produce requested job orders. Provides technical advice and direction to equipment operators and other employees. Estimates individual job costs; reviews and approves the daily records of work orders for billing purposes and enters jobs through controlled order entry system. Controls inventory levels by requisitioning materials, supplies and equipment timed to take advantage of price breaks and maintains a perpetual inventory system. Provides relief to production. Performs related duties as required. Provides present operational costs and future budget estimates for the printing department as required.
