PURPOSE: To provide supervision of student and/or professional advertising salespeople, to coordinate promotion of advertising space in varied media and other services, and to relieve the administrator(s) of a large volume of decisions in the operation of the advertising sales department. Responsible for determining the specific work methods of salespeople and/or trainees, making assignments, training them and reviewing their sales efforts. Responsible for many decisions with a minimum of direction from administrators, and for supplying dependable financial and factual information concerning advertising sales. Responsible for planning and implementation of sales training and sales promotion programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Hire and supervises daily activities of sale staff and/or advertising sales trainees. Coordinates selling advertising space in varied media and other services. Enforces cash and credit policies. Coordinates designs of promotional ads. Confers with individual salespeople regarding assigned accounts. Provides sales leads for salespeople and/or trainees. Makes sales calls with salespeople on especially difficult accounts. Performs related duties as required. Participates in and plans staff meetings. Coordinates promotional campaigns, including materials for special interest pages, sections and tabloids.
