PURPOSE: Play a musical instrument. To perform specialized activities in support of Music Department events, including a variety of rehearsals, auditions, and performances.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Accompanies groups such as Opera Workshop or String Prep Ensemble in rehearsal for semester performances. Assists individual students with required junior or senior recitals; Accompanies search candidates who visit the department; Accompanies prospective students auditioning for admission to music programs or for music scholarships. Other duties as assigned

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: None. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Coordinator of the Keyboard area or director of assigned performance area.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High School Graduation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Awareness of and competence in performing the major recital repertoire of string, wind, percussion, and vocal areas. Strong sight-reading abilities. Ability to work in ensemble situations. Ability to follow a conductor. Audition required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Music or equivalent professional experience. Recommendation by UTA Music Department member(s) or by local music community organization member(s). OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use of manual dexterity (repetitive motion of hands). May require evening or weekend hours. Requires concert dress on occasion. Proficiency in all phases of duties performed. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
