PURPOSE: To supervise and direct the operation of the Language Laboratory. Responsible for the administration and supervision of all phases of the operation of the Language Laboratory including: the supervision and hiring of Laboratory personnel; for planning, operating and training; and for procurement, maintenance, and storage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Hires and supervises Laboratory Personnel. Schedules and apportions work. Serves as liaison with related offices and divisions on campus, particularly the language department. Procures, inspects, and allocates supplies, equipment and teaching materials. Responsible for maintenance of all laboratory and departmental audio-visual equipment. Performs related and other duties as directed by the Director or the Chairman of the Department of Modern Languages. Attends professional meetings; projects laboratory needs for budget requests, recommends purchase of new equipment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Occasional specific instruction and review of all work on basis of program effectiveness and operation by Chairman or Director. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Supervises and directs through specific instruction and general review all employees of Language Laboratory.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: One year of experience in laboratory supervision. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Familiarity with language laboratories and their equipment. Proficiency in management of the language laboratory. Working conditions are acceptable, but occasionally involves exposure to mechanical and electrical equipment. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
