PURPOSE: To supervise a major area of work in a school accounting system or large business area. Responsible for the application of advanced accounting knowledge and abilities in the preparation of a variety of complex regular and special financial reports and statements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and assist in the preparation of accounting reports and reconciliations. Administer funds, and financial functions, such as budget accounting, budget preparation, operations of payroll department, or similar fiscal procedures. Handles and initiate correspondence. Reconciles bank statements. Performs related duties as assigned. Suggest and assist in the development of new accounting procedures and methods. Study present accounting, auditing, and other fiscal procedures, and recommend improvements. Assist in the preparation of the annual financial report.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision by the Business Manager, or other administrative officer. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General and direct supervision of Accountants I, Accounting Clerks I, II, and III and other clerical or bookkeeping personnel who might assist in an accounting operation.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in accounting.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two years of experience in governmental or commercial accounting. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Standard office machines, equipment capabilities and personal computer and CRT. Proficiency in the evaluations, observations, analysis and reporting of financial data.
