PURPOSE: To perform accounting clerical work involving supervision of and participation in the work of a large unit maintaining numerous departmental accounts. Responsible for the application of elementary bookkeeping principles to a variety of transactions in a segment of the central accounting system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain personnel, payroll and personal service budget control records. Prepares journal vouchers, cash receipt vouchers and other documents affecting transfers of funds. Prepares reports from accounting records. Note and correct fiscal irregularities. Reconciles bank statements. Perform ledger and other audits. Perform related duties as assigned. Audit accounts or organizations under university supervision.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General instructions except on the more complex assignments. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Direct the work and assist in the training of Accounting Clerk I's and other clerical employees in the area of activity.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Standard machines common to accounting office, CRT. Light typing may be required by employing department. Accuracy required in all duties performed. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
