PURPOSE: To plan and assist in the coordination of the business management, administrative and staff services of a college or large and complex department/area. Responsible for a variety of administrative services including administration of a budget of considerable size, personnel matters and other activities essential to the operation of the college or department requiring independent decision making skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate the administrative operations of the department/area. Coordinates new or existing departmental projects or programs and identifies sources of funds. Prepares analysis or reports as required for projects or programs. Prepares budgets and monitors expenditures. Conducts cost studies and oversees preparation of various administrative issues. Prepares statistical reports. Assists in speech and report preparation in response to official inquiries. Provides assistance in negotiation, administration and termination of contracts and grants. Maintains contact and liaison with other University offices or external agencies in connection with grant and research activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Coordinate special projects for the college or department/area.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER:
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use of personal computer and standard office equipment. Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Usual office environment. A thorough knowledge of University administrative structure, policies and procedures. Independent decision making and problem solving ability. Tact, diplomacy and discretion required in all matters. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
