PURPOSE: To provide skilled purchasing knowledge and tact dealing with departments and outside vendors for the purpose of obtaining supplies and equipment.Responsible for assisting in the procurement process from its initial stages at the requisition level until complete and final settlement of all pertinent invoices takes place.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Determine work priority for Buyers. Control and assign blocks of purchase order numbers to Buyers and selected departments. Assign department purchasing responsibilities to Buyers. Periodically review Buyer workloads and reassign department purchasing responsibilities as required. Advise and assist Buyers in purchasing procedures. Perform all normal buyer functions. Review purchase orders prior to publication and all buyer correspondence to departments and vendors prior to mailing. Confer with representatives from manufacturing and commercial firms. Prepare and edit specifications for SP and GSC open market purchase requisitions. Assist in the planning, organization and operation of the procurement section. Performs related duties as required.
