PURPOSE: To provide skills in the non-routine receipt, disbursement and recording of funds for the institution. Responsible for assisting in the non-routine receipt, disbursement and accountability of university funds and for answering questions concerning institutional policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to performing the duties of Cashier I and II assumes more responsibility for balancing accounts and preparing end of month reports. Assists in planning, organizing and supervising the work of the office, exercising responsibility for accuracy and priority of work and for resolving discrepancies in daily balances. Notifies students, staff, or faculty of returned personal checks. Merges daily cash receipts by arranging in posting order, classifying and totaling. Maintains records on all fee payments. Maintains and assumes responsibility for the general property deposit records. Trains new employees. May report to a Cashier III or an office. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General review for effectiveness on regular assignments; close supervision on unusual new duties. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Close supervision over new Cashier I and other clerical employees.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two years of experience as a cashier in a large scale operation. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Cash register, personal computer, CRT, calculator and standard office machines. Typing may be required by employing department. Must be accurate in maintaining records, counting and balancing monies and assembling and organizing data for use in records and reports.
