PURPOSE: To perform skilled, technical work in the maintenance, repair, design, and construction of computer and computer related equipment. Responsible for performing routine and specialized maintenance operations on electronic and mechanical computer equipment, and for participation in the design of special purpose computer related equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs routine and specialized maintenance and repair operations on computers, computer peripherals, data communications equipment, and data terminal equipment. Constructs special purpose computer related equipment including interfaces, data transmission devices, and processors. Performs related duties as required. Assists in the design, planning, and specifications of special purpose computer related equipment and diagnostic procedures.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from Computer Equipment Maintenance Technician III or other designated superior. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: May give limited supervision to Computer Equipment Maintenance Technician I.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two years of experience in the skilled maintenance of computers and computer related Equipment and in the construction of special purpose interface equipment. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use of electronic test equipment such as triggered oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, signal generators and frequency meters. Extreme accuracy required in all duties performed. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
