PURPOSE: To provide academic support to students through assistance with software applications and to provide clerical duties necessary for laboratory operation. Responsible for knowledge of software provided in laboratories and rudimentary maintenance of computer hardware under the direction of a supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs opening and closing accounting procedures. Records laboratory usage by student classification, software use, and time in laboratory. Maintains hardware and contacts supervisor when unable to resolve hardware problems. Provides assistance to laboratory users through knowledge of software packages, Performs related duties as required. Teaches classes on software or conducts tours of laboratories.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision for routine duties from a Computer Laboratory, SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: None. May assist in training of new employees.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: None. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Computer hardware used in the laboratories. Accuracy is required in completing the assigned accounting work for opening and closing of shifts. Usual laboratory conditions. Position designed primarily for the appointment of undergraduate students. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
