PURPOSE: To operate, monitor, and control a large-scale digital computer system in advanced data processing and computational applications and to assist in the scheduling of workflow. Responsible for optimum workflow through the computer network.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Controls and monitors the operation of a large-scale computer network which provides extensive timesharing resources. Assigns specific tasks to junior operators. Evaluates and reports system malfunctions to supervisor. Assists in collection and distribution of user information. Assists in scheduling machine runs. Assists in training new operators and in instructions concerning new procedures. Interfaces with maintenance contractors in supervisor's absence. Performs related duties as required. Performs or assigns emergency duties to other operators on the shift in case of fire, flood or other disasters.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education
REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation, supplemented by vocational business school training in appropriate field.
