PURPOSE: To provide entry-level assistance in the preparation of programs for the solution of problems by electronic computers. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of short programs or of portions of more complex programs in accordance with flow charts and specific instructions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Studies problems assigned and theoretical concepts and equations involved. Prepares block diagrams, flow charts and machine instructions for keypunching. Test runs programs. Corrects errors caused by incorrect programming. Verifies machine computed answers. Prepares abstract of problem and equations used in mathematical solutions. Prepares flow chart of sequence of operations and other information in outlining the program developed. Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education
REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation, supplemented by one year accredited college level course work in computer science, mathematics, physics or related field, or by completion of vocational training in computer programming.
