PURPOSE: To provide highly responsible professional skills for the design and preparation of program systems and the supervision of programming for electronic computers. Responsible for complete program planning from the initial development to the final stages of the operation, to include the analysis and evaluation of programs, and the supervision of programmers in the development and modification of program systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Specifies general programming design concepts for initial development of programming systems. Conducts research in automation techniques to improve computer system performance. Plans and coordinates programming projects within a particular project. Acts as senior programming system consultant in advanced computer system technology. Assists and advises subordinate personnel in the solution of highly technical and complex programming problems. Performs related duties as required. Recommends new or improved computer hardware capabilities. May act in a project management capacity.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Master's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
