PURPOSE: To provide professional administrative and coordination skills in the coordination of all phases and activities of a program, department or unit. Responsible for assisting the Manager or Director with supervision, planning and coordination; and administration of special programs of a program, department, or unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises and coordinates programs, policies and diagnostic procedures of a program, department, or unit. Provides administrative assistance to ensure attainment of program objectives. Informs appropriate administrative and management personnel regarding program operations. Interacts with university departments, special groups and external agencies in administering programs. May supervise assigned professional and clerical staff and/ or volunteer workers. Performs related duties as required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Determines own work sequence within limits of established policies and based on technical/specialized knowledge and/or experience more flexibility may be allowed. Will report to a manager, director or equivalent level of management. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General supervision involving the routine assigning and checking work of the clerical staff as well as student workers.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in a field related to the department or program being supported.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Two years of experience in a related area. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in all phases of duties performed. Regular office conditions, exposure to office machines, phones, fax, etc. May be exposed to travel within the campus area, may have occasional travel overnight. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
