PURPOSE: To provide advance research skills in obtaining and developing profiles on prospective donors. Responsible for researching, analyzing and synthesizing demographic, philanthropic and financial information about individuals, corporations and foundations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Formulates annual strategies for accomplishing the objectives of the research unit. Works with development officers to coordinate research needs and to develop a strategy for fulfilling those needs. Prepares and edits confidential donor and prospect profiles for use by the President, Vice President and Development officers in cultivating and soliciting prospects. Manages hard copy directories, and use of electronic database searches. Oversees computerized prospect tracking and maintenance, and supervises staff and assigned to these functions. Keeps abreast of new and developing research tools and resources, such as electronic tracking systems and database services. Maintains and expands the development office library resource materials for use in donor research. Hires, trains and supervises part-time or temporary research staff. Supervises data entry of information prospect tracking system. Assist the Development office support staff by providing information and recommendations for improving he accuracy of prospect and donor files. Supports President, Vice President and Departmental Development officers by providing confidential information about donors and prospects. Establishes and maintains rapport with working relationships with individuals and groups of the university community, including departments involved in fundraising activities. Provides profiles and donor/prospect information as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Journalism or in related field.
