PURPOSE: To provide both technical and administrative direction of a major functional area devoted to one or more aspects of computing services. Responsible for the area's entire computing services effort, coordination the work of personnel supporting these services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, organizes and schedules computing support projects, and assigns these tasks to appropriate personnel. Develops cost, time and performance tables for various projects. Establishes standards for work assignments and develops necessary guidelines and procedures. Evaluates employee performance and provides for development and training of the staff. Interviews and hires new employees. Performs related duties as required. Consults with directors on the progress of work in the functional area. Meets with other managers to coordinate the accomplishment of inter-area tasks. Conducts training sessions for staff members.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from the Director and /or the Associate Director. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Supervises all staff in the functional area, either directly or through intervening line supervisors.


REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in appropriate field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Four years of experience in a functional area of computing services. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Thorough knowledge of the capabilities of electronic computers and related auxiliary. Exacting accuracy required in all phases of work. Usual office conditions. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
