PURPOSE: To provide technical and systems expertise in support of the planning, implementation and advancing the university-wide multi-user computing resources. To manage and ensure high reliability and availability of both centralized and distributed multi-user computer systems. Responsible for providing and maintaining an excellence in multi-user computer systems and technical support to the University students, faculty and staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates and ensures university-wide multi-user computing systems are well managed/administered to provide required services to students, faculty and staff. Coordinates and ensures that quality customer service in the technical support area is provided. Conducts studies of projected enhancements in hardware and software, and proposes recommendations to Director. Develops, prepares and recommends budget for purchasing, upgrading and maintaining multi-user computer systems, system personnel salary equity adjustment and/or merit raise and professional on the job training. Plans defines, directs and coordinates various projects and ensures all tasks are completed by established deadlines. Assists campus departments in assessing the technical requirements that meet the needs their operation. Responds to various problems and developing appropriate resolution plans. Perform various administrative duties such as generating hardware/software requests to purchase; receiving/verifying purchased items; tracking status of system hardware/software inventory; contacting and negotiating with vendors and ensuring best hardware/software purchasing and maintenance contracts; hiring, managing and evaluating systems personnel. Perform related duties as assigned. Contacts and/or assists other UT System agencies in discussing, explaining and/or providing policies/services mutually beneficial to involved parties.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
