PURPOSE: To provide routine clerical skills in the performance of office tasks routine in nature and covered by established policies and procedures. Responsible for routine secretarial and clerical assignments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: **Position should include a large percentage of the following duties, but is not required to include all referenced duties** Answers telephones, routes calls and visitors, makes appointments and answers routine questions from students and other departments. Assists in determining work priority. Engages in various record keeping, posting, filing and sorting. Types letters, memos, reports, purchase orders and other material from notes or rough drafts requiring the knowledge of subject matter and / or departmental procedures and practices. Proofreads final product for correct grammar, punctuation and spelling. Searches for and compiles pertinent material from files as requested by supervisors. Organizes and maintains filing systems and posts bookkeeping information. Assists in regular and late registration process. Establishes personnel files for new employees, and ensures their completeness. Handles course adjustments such as adds, drops and grade changes. Usually performs duties for a sub-division or a unit of a total department or is responsible for work generated by many faculty or administrators within a department. Performs other duties as assigned.
