PURPOSE: To provide accounting skills necessary to the function of a payroll office. Responsible for the maintenance of institutional payroll office.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares and organizes monthly payroll and supplements Maintains per mission to pay file. Informs appropriate individuals of all changes which will affect payroll and insurance. Checks accuracy of personnel transaction forms as received from Personnel Office. Sets up employees in year-to-date records. Codes all maintenance changes (i.e., address, ORP, TSA, savings bonds, W-4) and enter employee updates into terminal. Deposit deduction checks for Budget payroll. Notifies ORP companies of employee terminations and changes. Maintains database of EECU direct deposits. Reviews and verifies social security/visa edit printout. Prepares monthly payroll, ORP, TSA, and DFC reports. Confers frequently with Personnel Office, other departments, faculty and staff employees. Answers faculty/staff questions and resolves problems related to monthly payroll. Prepares and organizes weekly payroll. Double checks all time cards for appropriate information, and notifies departments of any discrepancies. Maintains updated information via CRT terminal. Sets up year-to-date records. Processes student work eligibility forms and personnel transactions forms. Balances weekly payroll and verifies percentages. Distributes payroll reports to the Business Office. Prepares paychecks for disbursement. Disburses time cards to all departments on campus. Processes billings to corporations employing off-campus work studies, and prepare receivables for payment. Maintains and updates payroll ledgers of withholding tax, department vouchers, UCI and WCI. Prepares TRS reports and handles overtime payment on the monthly paid employees. Answers staff and student questions and resolves problems. Supervises and delegates assigned tasks to work study students. Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation supplemented by nine hours of college level courses in accounting or bookkeeping.
