PURPOSE: To provide accounting skills necessary to the function of a payroll office. Responsible for the maintenance of institutional payroll office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares and organizes payroll for the University. Assists department in the coordination and direction of departmental operations by answering questions, providing guidance and solving problems relating to payroll. Monitors, tracks and initiates departmental corrections for overpayments. Assists with data entry of forms, employee information and maintaining data base information. Prepares refunds and payments and ensures that payroll checks and earning statements are properly distributed. Issues emergency checks and completes salary transfers on appointment changes. Assists in the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls that provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General instructions from Payroll Director and Assistant Director. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Close supervision of student workers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or GED

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Four years of experience in a related field. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use of computer, standard office equipment, calculator, and CRT. Accuracy required in all phases of work performed. Excellent.
