PURPOSE: To provide advanced secretarial and clerical skills largely routine in nature. Responsible for the clerical work of a section, unit, or department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: **Position should include a large percentage of the following duties, but is not required to include all referenced duties** Assists in determining the work priority and schedules duties of a section or clerical service unit. Evaluates incoming mail, reports, requisitions, or inquiries and distributes with instructions for action in special cases. Puts a variety of materials including manuscripts, research papers, instructional materials, and technical reports from very complex rough drafts that involve special formats and complicated footnotes and bibliographies into a word processing document. Collects information pertinent to the unit and reports it to a superior. Organizes and maintains filing systems and posts bookkeeping information. Maintains a portion of bookkeeping and confidential records. Assists in the preparation of the budget. Enter personnel data to automated files and maintain database. Advises regular/student employee on personnel procedures. Provides employees with routine information pertaining to status on records. Advise students regarding admissions to programs. May be required to calculate GPA and preparations of degree plans for admissions. Performs other duties as assigned.
