PURPOSE: Work with multiple IT teams and university departments to develop, maintain, and enhance web sites and web applications. Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and managing complex web sites and web applications for a department or several departments. This person will be responsible for writing advanced web authoring code, designing or integrating graphics and databases for the web sites and applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Interact with the user community to gather and document business requirements, conduct process analysis, and draft conceptual design. Lead in the design, development, and implementation of websites and web applications. Utilize and promote the use of Enterprise tools and development standards. Lead in the design and implementation of web page text and visual content, navigational links, and page layout utilizing the use of Enterprise tools and development standards. Lead in the design, coding, testing and installation of web applications based on technical specifications using Enterprise standard development tools and methodologies. Create technical specifications and detailed software design documentation based on business requirements. Ensure best practices are being utilized. Assist users in completing user acceptance. Work on multiple projects with competing deadlines while paying strong attention to detail and analytics. Work with users and other IT members on a routine basis to troubleshoot reported problems pertaining to application software. Identify the cause, design or develop an approach for resolution. Upon approval, implement the correction/customize software to meet user specific needs. Provide 2nd level support for application problems. Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in computing or information systems or related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Ten+ years experience in systems analysis, design, and software programming in a combination of (experience may run concurrently) 5+ years of experience in website and/or web application design, analysis and programming using j2EE technologies such as JSP and/or 5+ years of experience using relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL, Frontbase) and/or 5+ years of experience using, or knowledge of, Java, PHP, HTML, SQL, C, and C++. Experience in Macintosh, Windows, Unix, and/or Linux environments. Experience in object-oriented methodologies. Experience using, or knowledge of, content management systems. Strong understanding of all phases of web deployment and the web application development lifecycle. Strong understanding and application of project management disciplines. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel). Certifications in supported technologies. Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use of standard office equipment, personal computer, and Microsoft office.
