PURPOSE: To provide with defined limits, the technical skills required to generate, modify, and maintain computer system software. Responsible for assisting in the generation and installation of computer system software and in the development and implementation of modification to the operating system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the analysis of operating systems problems defined by a software systems specialist of higher grade, and programs and implements approved solutions to problems. Assists in the design of test jobs and files, and performs programming end testing. Develops efficient programming techniques in machine language for system routines. Performs documentation and maintains system data sets and catalogs. Performs program design, generation, testing, and maintenance of specific components of the overall system. Performs other related duties. Generates proprietary program products from distribution tapes, using assembles, linkage editor and file copy utility programs. Analyzes memory dumps when system failures occur, and recommends corrective procedures.
