PURPOSE: To provide the technical skills required to generate, modify, and maintain computer system software. Responsible for systems studies of medium complexity and for assisting in planning, designing and developing components and modifications to system software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in the analysis of software systems problems of moderate complexity, and formulates and implements solutions to such problems. Performs programming, testing, and documentation. Recommends development of system routines needed for the efficient use of computer system resources. Designs the approved system routine and oversees their implementation. May specialize in a specific area of system software such as telecommunications or information systems with responsibility for implementation and maintenance. Performs other related duties as required. Participates in planning of enhancements and modifications to the software, and identifies impact of such changes. Trains Software Specialists I as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education
REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
