PURPOSE: To assist in the operation of a large telephone switchboard and to perform general clerical duties vital to supporting the department's mission. Responsible for routing all incoming and outgoing telephone calls placed through the switchboard and answering questions regarding personnel and departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs incoming, outgoing and inter-office calls. Answers numerous types of questions from the public. Directs public how to get to campus and locations of buildings. Takes messages for departmental personnel. Gives instructions to departments on the use of the TEX-AN system. Must be knowledgeable of University programs, policies and operations. Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: None. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Multiple position switchboard and computer terminal. Extreme accuracy in placing and routing calls. Standard conditions found in a telephone switchboard office. Minimum hazards. Special job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of 51.215 Texas Education Code.
