Veteran Preference
Veteran Preference
A Veteran's indicator (flag icon) has been added on the applicant information page if an applicant has provided veteran information on the application. This does not automatically give veteran's preference to the applicant. It is HR's responsibility to notify the hiring manager (by email) if an applicant is eligible for veteran's preference. An applicant is eligible for veteran's preference if he/she meets the minimum requirements for a particular position, has submitted any additional materials requested, and a copy of his/her DD214 or DD1300. Without the DD214/DD1300 form, the applicant is not given veteran's preference. If you are notified of an applicant with veteran's preference, this applicant must be offered the job if his/her qualifications (job related experience, skills, and abilities) are "substantially equal" to the best qualified applicant not eligible for Veteran's Preference.
