Position: The Program in Landscape Architecture at UT Arlington is seeking applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track) position depending upon qualifications. The position will begin commensurate with the fall semester, 2012. Candidates must be able to support the Program’s commitment to design and research as the primary tools for preparing students for practice.

Duties and responsibilities: Candidates must be able to teach fundamental design principles including graphic skills, hand drawing, and three dimensional thinking as executed in design studios, along with other areas unique to the applicant. Candidates also will be expected to chair thesis research committees, to undertake peer-reviewed research, to pursue grants, and / or to execute creative works.

Minimum qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a master’s degree in landscape architecture, or a BLA (or equivalent) degree from an accredited program along with an appropriate master’s degree.

Preferred qualifications: Applicants with substantial teaching experience in landscape architecture programs, or recent professional practice and professional licensure, and / or doctoral-level credentials will be given strong consideration. Minority and female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Program: The Program in Landscape Architecture is a graduate-only, nationally ranked program, housed in the School of Architecture with Programs in architecture and interior design. The landscape architecture faculty includes four full time and 5 adjunct positions.

The Program plays a vital role in environmental discourse in North Texas, using the complex region as a laboratory for preparing graduates to practice locally, nationally and internationally. The Program’s students, faculty and alumni are active in academic and professional circles, with perspectives that range from local to global.

UT Arlington, with over 33,000 students and located between Dallas and Ft. Worth, is the second largest university in the UT System. Already a Carnegie doctoral-extensive teaching, research and public service institution, it is one of six public universities in Texas vying for Tier One research status.
