Art + Art History - Visual Communication Assistant/Associate Professor
Position: Tenure Track or Tenured Assistant/Associate Professor of Visual Communication at the University of Texas at Arlington. Position will begin August 2012.

Required/Minimum/Preferred Qualifications: MFA in Visual Communication or related discipline; 5 to 6 years of teaching experience and professional experience expected. Expertise in Mac OS, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash required: experience in Web Design and Multimedia preferred. Experience or interest coordinating a Visual Communication area is preferred. Commitment to diversity and willingness to culturally enrich the department.
Responsibilities: Teach studio visual communication courses at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. The position incudes extensive creative/scholarly activity; student advising; committee and service work. Active presence and participation in area activities is required including co-oversight and management of undergraduate and graduate curricular development. The idea candidate will coordinate or co-coordinate the Visual Communication area.
The Department: The Visual Communication area is one of the most successful areas within the thriving Art + Art History Department with over 180+ student design awards/honors/accolades since 2001. The Art and Art History department has over 830 undergraduate majors and MFA students in twelve studio disciplines. There are thirty-one full-time faculty members and twenty part-time faculty members in the department. The Visual Resources collection includes a well-developed image bank, a state-of-the-art Mac OS research center, a full-time collections manager, and resources in print and digital data.
Deadline: Position is open until filled although priority consideration will be given to applications completed by December 17, 2011. Provide a letter of application, vita, copies of transcripts, and three current letters of reference. Candidates should also include appropriate documentation of professional activities such as teaching, evidence of scholarly research publications, format, discipline advocacy, and service.
