The University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work invites nominations and applications for four tenure track assistant professor positions effective fall semester 2013. We are especially interested in adding faculty who will strengthen our capacity in the mental health/behavioral health domains with a special emphasis on substance abuse and/or health disparities.

Requirements for the positions are:

• An MSW and a Ph.D. in social work or a related field.

• At least one publication in a recognized refereed academic journal.

• Strong research methodological and statistical skills

• Evidence of a commitment to research, obtaining external funding, and scholarship

• Teaching experience is desired, with the ability to teach in one of the two specialization areas (direct practice or community and administrative practice), and in two of the core curriculum areas (foundation practice, HBSE, policy, research).

• Ability and interest in teaching distance education and online courses.

The University of Texas at Arlington is part of the University of Texas system and serves over 35,000 students in Arlington, Texas. Arlington is located in the middle of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and is an attractive, affordable, community of 380,000 featuring a range of cultural, arts, sports, and family entertainment resources.

The School of Social Work is one of the largest in the country, with more than 1600 students enrolled in the BSW, MSSW, and Ph.D. programs, as well as several distance education programs. The School is home to the Center on Addiction and Recovery Studies, the Judith Birmingham Center for Child Welfare, the Center for Clinical Social Work, and the Center for Nonprofit, Advocacy and Donor Organizations, as well as serving as host for the university’s African American Studies Program. It is home to three professional journals: the Journal of Technology and Human Services, The Journal of Policy Practice, and Adoption Quarterly.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
