2004 ROLL OF HONOR RECIPIENTS

Kathryn Powell Ellis was born and raised in southern Iowa, where her father was a farmer and her mother was a teacher.  As a young student in rural schools, her favorite pastime was reading.  She attended two years at Ottumwa Heights Junior College before earning her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Iowa.  She was a teaching assistant in Math Department at the University of Iowa and also taught at the University of North Texas.  At UTA, she was a part-time instructor in the Math Department before retiring in 1997.  She served as president of the retirees Club for two years and has also assisted with programs.  She and her husband, Jason, have a son, Greg and a daughter, Elaine.

Eleanor Bagby Langley was born in rural Dallas County and graduated from Lancaster High School.  She married Walter H. Stone and they had two sons and a daughter.  Eleanor earned an associate degree in applied science from El Centro College.  She came to UTA in 1979 and worked in Administrative Computing Services.  She designed and implemented the online registration system that replaced the old punch card system.  She retire in 1987 and married Donald Eggleston.  They traveled around the United States, Mexico and Canada in their motor home until Don’s death in 1993.  She has held several offices in the Retirees Club, including secretary (1997-98), vice president for programs (2002-03) and president (2003-04).  She married John V. Langley in 1997 and they lead an active retirement life.
