2009 ROLL OF HONOR RECIPIENTS
Jack Fitzer came to UT Arlington in 1966 as a member of the electrical engineering department, retiring in 2004 after 38+ years of service. During his tenure at UT Arlington, Jack was a professor and advisor in the School of Engineering. Jack’s contribution to the university includes bringing the engineering honor society “Tau Beta Pi” chapter to campus and serving as chair or acting chair of the electrical engineering department for many years.
In 2005, Dr. Fitzer was conferred with the honorary title of Professor Emeritus for his exemplary service and dedication to the University and the community.
Upon retirement in 2004, Jack continued his support and leadership through his active involvement and participation in the UT Arlington Retiree Club. Jack served as both program director and president of the club from 2005 through 2008.
Jack and his lovely wife, Gwen, now reside in Oregon, but remain connected to the University through his many friends and colleagues.
Donald Cantwell was Associate Professor in the School of Business from 1959 to 2002. Teaching Business Law for many years, Mr. Cantwell was instrumental in the development of many business leaders in the metropolitan area. Mr. Cantwell was also an active voice on campus, serving on numerous committees, many during the University’s tumultuous period of the 1960s.
In 2002, Mr. Cantwell was conferred with the honorary title of Professor Emeritus for his exemplary service and dedication to the University and the community.
Upon retirement in 2002, Don joined the UT Arlington club and worked to increase membership and programs. While serving as president of the club in 2007, Don’s work was cut short due to health; however his contributions to the club deserve recognition.
