Other Activities

Besides the planned day trips and all of the activities offered by the Porto Carras Grand Resort, there are many other places and things to see around the area. Here are a few of the attractions:

	Parthenonas A city with beautiful northern Greek traditional architecture from the 9th century.
	Coast Line Road This road south of Neos Marmaras and Porto Carras is a thin road that follows the sea with gorgeous views! There are also some nice taverns tucked away in the many cozy gulfs.
	Armenistis beach Unspoiled beach with interesting rock formations
	Porto Koufo This is a nice small fishing village.
	Vourvourou area A very beautiful delta-like region with a great beach. You can also take a boat tour of the many small islands around the city.
	Dragoudelis Mountain From Neos Marmaras, you can climb to the top of this mountain (811 meters tall) for a great view of the whole peninsula, including the Vourvourou area, Mount Olympus, and a stunning view of Mount Athos. On the way to the top, there is also Psaria picnic area, which has a natural spring.
	Toroni village Visit the 5th century Paleo-Christian Basilica of Agios Athanasios to view its beautiful marble decorations and mosaic floor. Also located in this small town are the remains of Toroni Castle.
	Nikiti – (map) See the traditional stone-brick houses and visit the Paleo-Christian Basilica of Agios Georgios, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin, the Church of Apostle Pavlos, and the small nearby isle of Kastri.
	Neos Marmaras Take a boat tour of the isle of Kelyfos and see the ancient Roman ruins. Enjoy a nature walk in the pine area of "Psaria" and to Itamos Hill.
	Sarti Visit the Xiropotamos Monastery and the ruins of the Ancient Temple.
	Sykia See the 19th century windmills and the ruins of the Sanctuary of Episkopi.
	Agios Nikolaos See the traditional houses, the Church of Agios Georgios, and the ruins of the fortress.

Wineries

If you are interested in wines, this region of Greece creates some of the finest wines. There are a few companies in Neos Marmaras that offer day excursions to some of the wineries. If you do not want to leave the resort, Domaine Porto Carras is the local winery of the resort.
