Majoring in INTS

Step #1: Apply to the INTS Program

Step #2: Attend and Orientation Workshop

  • The Program is explained.
  • Your questions are answered.
  • You receive assistance in completing the application.

Step #3: Build Your Degree Plan

Step #4: Enroll in Courses on Your Degree Plan

  • Review your work schedule wit hyour advisor before enrolling in courses so that you do not take on more responsibility than you can reasonably handle.
  • Listen carefully to your Advisor's advice concerning your academic load, prerequisites, strategies for improving your gpa, availability of certain courses to non-majors, course sequencing, and other information.
  • Enroll in only those courses that you and your Advisor have agreed that you should take each semester. Any deviation from this schedule must be approved by your advisor.

Step #5: Sign-Up for the Interdisciplinary Leadership Organization (INLO)

  • Join the INLO ListServ, which is the primary way the staff and faculty communicate to INTS students.
  • Join INLO to develop leadership and organizational skills and develop relationships with your INTS professors.
  • Join INLO to learn about INTS program developments, improving your interview skills, learn resume building, internship opportunities, and mae important contacts with employers at INLO Leadership Seminars.

Step #6: Stay in Touch

  • Meet with your Advisor each semester to update your degree plan, add or delete courses, review your GPA, and see if your projected graduation date is on track.
  • Report to your advisor either in person or via email academic difficulty of any kind that you experience during a semester. Your advisor will help you decide if it is in your interest to withdraw from a course to protect your GPA.

Step #7: Finalize Your Degree Plan

  • Finalize means researching each course on your degree plan that you have not yet taken to make sure that it is (a) available the semester you need to take it, (B) will fit your schedule, and (c) is still relevant to your goal. This must be done prior to scheduling an appointment with your Advisor to finalize.
  • Finalize involves having your degree plan signed by you, your advisor, and the Director.
  • Finalize means having your signed degree plan entered into the MyMav system which must be completed at least the semester before your projected graduation date.
  • Finalize means that you are on schedule to complete all academic requirements for graduation.

Step #8: Graduate

  • Inform your Advisor if your intended date of graduation is going to be different from the projected date on your finalized degree plan.
  • File for graduation with the Office of Records.
  • Request letters of recommendation from your INTS Advisors and INTS professors well in advance of your actual graduation.
