Doctoral Program CharacteristicsWith input from its Graduate Education Advisory Committee (GEAC), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) has adopted a policy requiring all public Texas universities to publish certain statistics describing their doctoral programs.
In an effort to strengthen doctoral programs and provide greater public access to information about them, GEAC identified a set of 18 important characteristics of doctoral programs (see Characteristics of Texas Public Doctoral Program Definitions).
GEAC also recommended to the THECB that institutions collect doctoral program data related to these 18 characteristics and use them for institutional self-assessment and to assist prospective students in choosing doctoral programs.
In November, 2007, the Coordinating Board adopted these recommendations and asked public Texas institutions to collect and publish on their websites individual program data associated with these measures for each of their doctoral programs by December 2009. These reports will be updated yearly.
The links below will access the reports for each of UT Arlington’s doctoral programs, except the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and the Doctor of Nursing Practice, which are too new to be included in this year’s report.
