The UTA Follett Student Leadership Center offers scholarships for current UTA students interested in becoming more involved with The Center. Scholarship recipients are granted the opportunity to gain professional skills and leadership experience within The Follett Student Leadership Center and its programs.

Scholarship Candidates:  

This scholarship program is open to full time enrolled UTA undergraduate and graduate students. The Student Leadership Fellow is a competitive, non-academic scholarship. Ideal candidates will want to enhance their leadership skills and abilities.

About the Scholarship Program:

The Student Leadership Fellow for The Follett Student Leadership Center is housed in the E. H. Hereford University Center. Award recipients serve as a resource and assist with forwarding the mission of The Follett Student Leadership Center, the Division of Student Affairs, and The University of Texas at Arlington. The Student Leadership Fellow for The Center will shadow peer leaders within The Follett Student Leadership Center to learn about different programs and gain leadership skills. The Student Leadership Fellow program is overseen by the Associate Director of The Follett Student Leadership Center.

Opportunities Include:

  • Provide programmatic and administrative support for all Follett Student Leadership Center Programs including but not limited to Maverick Mentors, Freshmen Leaders on Campus, Leadership Honors Program, UTA-Volunteers, and Alternative Breaks.

  • Promote first-year programs through marketing support, recruitment, social media and other methods of publicity.

  • Support the Follett Student Leadership Center staff in leadership, service program development, and implementation as other collateral assignments when necessary.

  • Supports the mission, as well as all policies and procedures of the department and the university.

  • Promote leadership theory and development to create a civil, just and diverse community.

  • Meet regularly with the Follett Student Leadership Center Assistant Director to discuss direction of the program, progress, and concerns.

  • Serve as a positive role model as a Student Leadership Fellow and abide by professional standards and ethics.

  • Develop credible, working relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.

Application and Awarding:

Candidates must complete the online application and be available for an interview with the Follett Student Leadership Center staff. Scholarship amounts and time frame will be presented at the time of Fellowship program offer.
