What We Do

Servant Leadership

Servant leadership is an important part of the FLOC experience. We understand that leaders aren't always the people who are center stage. Many times, we lead through serving the needs of others in our community. Each year, FLOC focuses on a specific philanthropic cause or organization. Past programs include our FLOC-UP supporting the Fort Worth MDA and starting the UTA Emergency Assistance Fund beginning Spring 2015.

Throughout the year, FLOC hosts events for the UTA and larger community some of our reoccurring signature events include:

Paint Your Ride with Maverick Pride - This traditional homecoming event invites all the UTA community to come out to the Arlington Hall turnaround off Spaniolo Drive to get your car painted for homecoming week.

Maverick Holiday - A family friendly event open to the UTA and surrounding community with arts and crafts highlighting a variety fall and winter holidays.

Dr. Seuss’ Birthday - Hosted in conjunction with Read Across America, FLOC and the UTA Volunteers hosts a family fun event including reading with UTA students and special guests, Dr. Seuss' themed arts and crafts, and more.

FLOC can be a great start to your college involvement. Many past FLOC members have continued their leadership development by becoming UTA Ambassadors, Student Congress Members, Orientation Leaders, and other prominent leadership roles across campus. FLOC hosts multiple member only events that teach members about their personal leadership styles and strengths, encourage them to network with other student leaders and UTA faculty, and learn about new leadership opportunities.

Meetings

FLOC members are required to attend a meeting every Monday at Noon. General Body meetings are held in the Upper Student Congress Chambers. Committee meetings are held on alternate Mondays in meeting rooms in the upper level of the UC. FLOC has a strict attendance and participation policy so members are required to contact the advisors if they plan to be absent.
