The LGBTQA Program Pride Peers are proud to announce Pride Week 2013! This exciting celebration will be held Monday, September 30 – Friday, October 4 and serves as an opportunity for the UT Arlington community to celebrate our LGBTQ community through educational, networking, and social on-campus events. Be a part of this campus tradition, while making new friends and celebrating diversity!

"Standing Proud" 
Sept. 30 - October 13
Open Daily 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., UC Gallery

As part of Pride Week 2013, the LGBTQA Program wants to share the parts of our community and some of its notable members through its “Standing Proud” Gallery Exhibit. Come see displays of respectable and notable LGBTQA community members who made positive strides for LGBTQA persons everywhere. Admission is free, open to the public.

Queer Karaoke, Trivia and Games! 
Monday, Sept. 30
6 - 9 p.m., UC Rio Grande

Sing your hearts out and battle for supremacy at this year’s Queer Karaoke, Trivia, and Games! The LGBTQA Program is happy to kick off our annual Pride Week with this fun filled event with lots of games, friends and goodies. With Bingo, Trivia, Karaoke and more there’s bound to be fun for any and every one. This event is open to UT Arlington students, faculty and staff.

Lambda Arts and Education - LES-B-Honest: Violence within the Lesbian Community
Tuesday, Oct. 1
6 p.m., UC Concho

The LGBTQA Program will open its Lambda Arts and Education Series with LES-B-Honest: Domestic Violence in the Lesbian Community. UT Arlington Professor Jarryd Willis will present his research on the extent and effects of domestic violence among lesbian women. Afterward, the RVSP Program staff will lead a discussion on what makes a healthy relationship dynamic and how to maintain it. Admission is free, open to the public.

Sex in the Dark
Wednesday, Oct. 2
6 - 8 p.m., UC Concho

Please ask: we’ll tell at Sex in the Dark. The LGBTQA Program wants you to bring your safe sex questions and concerns to our Pride Week-Sex in the Dark event. A panel of students and professionals from Health Services will be available to answer your questions on sex and safety in an anonymous environment when we turn out the lights. Admission is free, open to the UT Arlington community.

Safe Zone Ally Training
Thursday, Oct. 3
1 – 4 p.m., UC Red River

Become a Safe Zone Ally at UTA! Participants in Safe Zone will learn about heterosexual privilege, campus and community resources, and how to be supportive to members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans* and Questioning (LGBTQ) community. At the conclusion of the training, participants have the option to display a Safe Zone symbol as a signal to the campus community, and especially LGBTQ individuals, that they maintain a safe and affirming environment. Lambda Arts and Education - The Meaning of Drag
Thursday, Oct. 3
6 – 9 p.m., UC Concho

Come learn what it takes to make a queen come to life! The LGBTQA Program’s Lambda Arts and Education Series explores the meaning of drag with Dr. Kevin Gustafson, UT Arlington Professor of English, and metroplex drag queens and kings on Thursday, October 3rd from 6 to 9 p.m. in UC Concho. Learn about the history of drag as a performance art and what it means to area performers. Then see what it takes in the departments of hair and make-up to turn these girls and boys into Kings and Queens. Admission is free, open to the public.

LGBTQA Program Drag Show
Friday, Oct. 4
7 p.m., UC Rio Grande

It is time to get FABULOUS! Come enjoy a show of GLAMOROUS proportions as Drag Kings and Queens compete for your vote. The LGBTQA Program is happy to present to you our first fundraiser drag show as our featured event for this year’s Pride Week. Hosted by Drag Queen extraordinaire Kiana Lee from Arlington’s 1851, you can enjoy the wonderful world of drag. UT Arlington community are invited to perform!
