McNair Graduate Assistance Package
AY 2004-5

 

Purpose:

  • The College of Liberal Arts McNair Graduate Assistance Package is offered for support of one outstanding incoming M.A. student who has been an undergraduate McNair Scholar.
  • The duration of the award is up to two years and the award will commence with the Fall semester of 2004.

 

Award:

  • One Fellowship for $1,000 per year to be disbursed as $500 in each of two semesters.
  • One Assistantship for the same period as the Fellowship
  • Health Insurance Options
  • Waiver of Graduate School Admissions Fee
  • In-state tuition rates

 

Eligibility:

To qualify, you must be a graduate of a McNair program, apply and be accepted into one of the M.A. programs in the College of Liberal Arts. You must also complete the M-GAP Financial Aid Application located on the Graduate School website, in addition to the general application.

All applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average in their undergraduate and graduate studies and meet all program-specific requirements.

Only one M-GAP package will be awarded in the College of Liberal Arts, and it will be awarded on a competitive basis. The M-GAP award does not preclude other financial aid.

The recipient is required to be enrolled and complete a minimum of six hours in each of the Fall and Spring semesters .

 

Renewal:

The M-GAP award may be renewed for a second year; a continuing student must maintain a GPA of 3.0. A student who changes majors will not be renewed in the semester following the change of major.

 

Deadlines:

  • Applications for the McNair Graduate Assistance package and Graduate School must be received at UTA no later than March 1, 2004.
  • The award will be made in writing by April 1, 2004.
  • The recipient will have two weeks to accept or deny the package.
