Liberal Arts Scholarships The Edward M. Kennedy Liberal Arts Scholarship The Edward M. Kennedy Liberal Arts Junior-Senior Scholarship will award a student $3,000 over a two-year period, $750 for each of four successive "long" semesters, beginning with the first semester of the junior year. A new award winner will be chosen each spring for the two-year award period beginning the following fall. Deadline: April 10, 2013. Download compete qualifications and application requirements here. College of Liberal Arts Academic Excellence A number of scholarships recognizing superior academic performance are awarded each academic year to currently enrolled Liberal Arts majors for tuition and expenses. Requirements include: GPA of 3.85 or above, at least 30 credit hours in residence and Junior or Senior standing for award year. We will make awards to both full and part time students. Funded by the Greater Arlington/Mansfield Democratic Women Greater Arlinglon/Mansfield Democratic Women, founded in 2005, works through the political process in support of Democratic candidates, especially women, who will endeavor to ensure that federal, state and local governments provide equal opportunity for all. GAMDW established the Barbara Jordan Scholarship to encourage college students to pursue a public service career that reflects the principles exemplified by this remarkable social justice advocate. Barbara Jordan, the first woman elected to the Texas Senate and the first African-American elected to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, supported public education, decent housing, civil rights, gender equity, a living wage, protection of the environment - and in her words, "Democratic...principles, programs, policies which help us help ourselves."
