Access Restrictions for Library Catalogs and DatabasesThere is unrestricted access to the UTA Libraries online catalog. Access to the remaining catalogs, databases, and e-journals is restricted by each database's commercial vendor. Because of these vendor-imposed restrictions, off-campus users may not be able to access all library databases. Anyone who is not a UTA student, faculty or staff member is not permitted electronic access to The UTA Libraries from outside the libraries. Databases and e-journals contain copyrighted materials of the Producer/Vendors and their licensors which retain sole ownership of these materials. Only fair use, as provided by the United States copyright law is permitted.
Who Are the Authorized Users? "Authorized Users" are currently registered students, currently employed faculty and staff, and, in most instances, walk-in users. The Library is expected to restrict access to authorized users by verifying ID numbers, through use of passwords, or by restricting access to IP (internet protocol) addresses on the UTA campus.
If you are an "authorized user" as defined above, or if you are using a UTA campus IP address, and you have been denied access to a database or e-journal, please send an e-mail to libraryweb@uta.edu and we will try to correct the problem. If you are NOT an authorized user or are not using a University of Texas at Arlington campus IP address, please understand that legally-binding contracts limit the access we are able to provide and to afford.
