The Architecture and Fine Arts Library

The Architecture and Fine Arts Library (AFA) is located on the first floor of the Architecture Building, room 104 in the North wing. This full service branch library is open 81 hours per week during the long terms and can seat 75 patrons. The Architecture and Fine Arts Library was originally an instructional media center for the School of Architecture for its faculty and students, established in 1976. In the summer of 1982, the architectural design books and journals from the Central Library were merged with this small collection thus becoming the first full service branch library on campus. In the following years, the collection holdings and scope of services has far greatly expanded to include not only the original areas of architecture and its allied fields of interior design and landscape architecture studies, but also art, music, and the music listening laboratory. The total volume count in AFA exceeds 40,000 books, bound journals, music scores, long playing records and compact disks. The branch facility has over 300 journal titles of which 150 are received on a current basis. Hundreds of new monographs are added each year in the fields of design and in the fine arts. Upon their arrival they are displayed for two weeks on shelves near the library entrance. They may be borrowed according to the UTA Libraries Circulation Policy.
