Librarian - Director of Scholarly Communications

The Director of Scholarly Communication will serve in an important leadership role advancing central facets of the strategic plan of The University of Texas at Arlington. The Director will be the primary liaison to UTA faculty on emerging issues of scholarly publication and provide legal expertise to faculty, students and colleagues within University Libraries on intellectual property issues related to scholarly communication. The Director of Scholarly Communication will serve as an advocate for new and emerging practices in scholarly communication at the University, including playing a role in shaping policies and support for the creation, delivery, and preservation of original digital scholarship produced at UT Arlington. The librarian in this position leads education and outreach to faculty and provides guidance to all members of the UT Arlington community on issues related to scholarly publishing, including author rights, open access (OA) publishing, and current and emerging publishing trends. This position also serves as a resource on intellectual property issues related to copyright, open access and licensing. The Director of Scholarly Communication will work closely with allied positions in Digital Humanities, E-Science and GIS.

Librarian - Metadata

This position provides organization and bibliographic control of library resources in all formats and all encoding levels. The incumbent reports to the Head of Access and Discovery and will help chart the library's long-range plans for cataloging collections, supporting digital initiatives and ILS data remediation.

Librarian - Social Sciences Data

The Social Sciences Data Librarian will provide leadership and vision for the development, implementation, and operationalization of UTA Libraries' initiatives that assist faculty and students navigate social sciences data-related issues, including data discovery, analysis, visualization, and management. The scholar in this position will work as an intellectual partner with faculty, students, and staff using data in their research and teaching. Working with these constituencies, and in collaboration with librarians, archivists, and staff throughout the Libraries, this librarian will increase the Libraries' ability to collect, preserve, and provide access to research data. This position also provides guidance on the use of data and datasets as well as expertise in support of published data repositories such as ICPSR, and supports users requiring assistance with statistical and qualitative analysis software. The Social Sciences Data Librarian will serve as a partner and resource person for librarians and archivists involved in facilitating faculty and student research.
