No ordinary time : Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt : the home front in World War II by Doris Kearns Goodwin
D-Day, June 6, 1944 : the climactic battle of World War II
Citizen soldiers : the U.S. Army from the Normandy beaches to the Bulge to the surrender of Germany, June 7,
1944-May 7, 1945
My reading interests are primarily in the Presidency
and the life histories of each of the Presidents of the United States.
I've had this interest in the Presidents since I was a small boy.
Visiting presidential libraries and museums, birth places and burial
sites is also a favorite pastime of mine. No Ordinary Time provides
a detailed account of the happenings in the Roosevelt White House and on the
homefront during World War II. This
book also profiles the unique personality and leadership skills of FDR and his
wife, Eleanor Roosevelt. D-Day and Citizen
Soldiers explicitly describe the sacrifices, devotion to duty and the
heroic achievements of the front line soldier in the European Theater during
World War II (from the preparations for D-Day to V-E Day in May, 1945). I have a
deep respect and admiration for that generation of Americans (1930-1945) who
assured our present day freedom, liberty, democracy and way of life. -- Pete Carlon |
