The Dramatic Imagination by Robert Edmond Jones The Dramatic Imagination, first published in 1941, is still relative to the insight and passion of the theatre today as it was in the early part of the twentieth century. Robert Edmond Jones, who was trained as a scenic designer and director, designed for the famous playwright Eugene O'Neil and directed some of the most talented actors of his time including John Barrymore. As I refer back to this book on occasion, it reminds me of why I continue to pursue theatre art. It is an inspiration and continues to fuel my confidence. Robert Edmond Jones was a master artist and a true visionary on how to depict the human condition on the live theatrical stage. I continue to find wisdom within the covers of The Dramatic Imagination and look forward to my continuing relationship with it. -- Mr. Kim LaFontaine |
