The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson
edited by Thomas Johnson

Poetry speaks to the heart.  To my mind, few speak more vibrantly or profoundly than Emily Dickinson.  I go to her poems for wisdom, comfort, beauty, and delight.  They never disappoint.

There are many novels and plays that I would not like to live without, but if I had to choose one literary life companion, it would be Dickinson.  She says it best:

I reckon—when I count at all—
First—Poets—Then the Sun—
Then Summer—Then the Heaven of God—
And then—the List is done—
