Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett I quickly developed an intense interest in the characters of the book, and came to think of them as "new friends." Each day I looked forward to reading another chapter, but as the end of the book approached I put it aside for a couple of weeks because I did not want it to end. I learned a great deal about the church in Europe during the Middle Ages, and other history as well. Since our church choir had sung in cathedrals in Spain the summer before I read this book, I appreciated learning about the people who had spent their lives constructing the same cathedrals. Pillars of the Earth is a great book, and I would recommend it to anyone! -- Anne C. Witt |
