Guest Computer Account Policy

The UT Arlington Libraries provide on campus access to online research collections for non-UTA researchers (access from off-campus is not available). Access is granted dependent upon the current needs of the UTA community and is for research and educational purposes (activities such as games and other recreational uses are discouraged). To obtain access, guests must provide a current government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport). In the Central Library, passes are distributed at the Service Desk on 1st floor (or in Special Collections for researchers working there). Passes may also be obtained at the Service Desks in the Science & Engineering Library or Architecture & Fine Arts Library. To ensure that non-UTA researchers can obtain needed access to our licensed research tools we offer the following methods:

One Hour Pass

We have a a limited number of guest computer stations. Access is limited to one 60-minute session per day. At times when all guest machines are in use, you may be offered the next available hour. You may not reserve a specific time slot or a time in the future. If you miss your scheduled hour, you may not reschedule nor request another that day. Note that failure to be present and logged in within 5 minutes of a scheduled session causes the system to remove your access and allow the next patron’s access to the machine to be activated. Guests must be on-site to request access.

Open Weekends

Dependent upon current needs of the UTA community, any computer workstation on the 2nd floor of Central Library will be available for use on Saturdays and Sundays.

Extended Computer Use - General Public

Members of the general public must demonstrate a need for the unique resources of a research library. If such a need is affirmed by Library staff, temporary access to resources may be granted. If approved, this access begins within two business days with issue of a guest NetID and password for use at UTA Library computers. This guest password is available for 14 consecutive days once per semester. Please complete this form and bring it along with a current government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport) to the Reference Desk in the Central Library or the Service Desk in the Science & Engineering Library or Architecture & Fine Arts Library.

Extended Computer Use - Faculty or Students from another University or a High School

Faculty or students from another university or a high school who have need of extended access to research collections may request semester long access. If approved, this access begins within two business days with issue of a guest NetID and password for use at computers in the UTA Libraries. This guest password is valid until the end of the UT Arlington semester in which it was granted. Please complete this form and bring it along with a current government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport) AND a current photo ID from your university or high school to the Reference Desk in the Central Library or the Service Desk in the Science & Engineering Library or Architecture & Fine Arts Library.

Friends of the Library and Alumni Association Members

Bring your current UT Arlington Alumni Association membership card and a current government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport) to the Central Library Reference Desk to request a NetID which will be valid for the duration of your membership. Friends of the UT Arlington Libraries should bring a current government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport) to the Service Desk and we will verify your Friend’s membership and issue a NetID which will be valid for the duration of your membership.

Access to Government Documents

Service desk staff will assist non-UTA patrons to access government documents.
