Graduate Teaching Assistants

GTA Application

Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) applications are available twice a year for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering graduate students. For the fall term, applications are only available March 1 and due by 5:00 p.m on March 31, for the spring term, applications are only available October 1 and due by 5:00 p.m on October 31. Applications are not accepted prior to or after the due date. GTA application forms are sent electronically to all MAE graduate students on March 1 and October 1. 

A GTA position provides competitive stipends. GTAs are also entitled to Texas resident tuition rates; for details, see http://grad.pci.uta.edu/about/catalog/current/general/regulations/#resrates.

GTAs may also be eligible for a STEM fellowship, which covers all but the statutory tuition, international student fee and student insurance; for details, see http://www.uta.edu/research/administration/departments/gcs/find-funding/stem-tuition.php.

Graduate Department Scholarships

Department Scholarship Application form
MAE Department Scholarships and Fellowships are available once per year. They are awarded to current graduate students. Requirements vary per award and the amount of award varies per semester depending on available funds. Applications available April 1. Deadline for department application is April 30.

UNDERGRADUATE

Freshman Mechanical Engineering Joe R. Martin Scholarship Program

ME Freshman Application form
Awarded to outstanding high school students who intend to major in Mechanical Engineering and to continuing Mechanical Engineering undergraduates who demonstrate high academic achievement. Students must have a 3.0 GPA. The award is $500 per semester for the Fall and Spring semesters for up to four years. Deadline for freshman application is April 15. 

Freshman Aerospace Engineering Scholarship Program

AE Freshman Application form
Awarded to outstanding high school students who intend to major in Aerospace Engineering and to continuing Aerospace Engineering undergraduates who demonstrate high academic achievement. Students must have a 3.0 GPA. The award is $500 per semester for the Fall and Spring semesters for up to four years.
Deadline for freshman application is April 15.
